Flat rate, hourly, per word, per page…Options abound when contracting for writing or editing services.

Writers and editors generally charge for their services as follows:

• By project
• By the hour
• Per word
• Per 250-word page
• On retainer
• Some combination of the above

I will be happy to provide a fee estimate after reviewing your project. Fees typically charged by freelance publishing professionals (including writers, editors, graphic designers, and proofreaders) may be found in the Editorial Freelancers Association rate chart. Note that the fees listed are guidelines only; many established editorial professionals charge more, while those who are newer to the profession often discount their rates to make up for lack of experience.

Please feel free to contact me to get a complimentary, no-obligation estimate on your project. Be aware, however, that I will not be able to give you an accurate price range without reviewing a representative sample of your manuscript (if it is an editing project) or discussing the project specifics with you in some detail (for a writing project). Your editing or writing project is not a one-size-fits-all matter, and neither is the process of creating a bid for the work to be done.
