Eastern Lakes Ride
The Eastern Lakes Ride follows
beautiful lakes like Lake George, Brant Lake, Schroon Lake, Lincoln
Pond, Lake Champlain, Eagle Lake, Paradox Lake, and Loon Lake. The
ride follows mountain rivers and streams like Schroon River and the Boquet
River. There are great views of both the Adirondacks and the Green
Mountains in Vermont. What sets the ride apart, however, is the
quality of the twisty roads. Many Adirondacks riders focus on the
mountains and miss these fine roads:
1)
Route 9N through the Tongue Mountains. Great ride over the
mountains and down to the Lake Shore.

2)
Palisades Road (CR26) (video)
along Brant Lake. Route 8 leading up to this road has some great
sweepers, but CR26 is a blast. Very twisty along the lake, but be
careful of the blind corners and of a few driveways.

3)
Ensign Pond Road (CR4) - (video).
This is probably the best of the twisties. 12 1/2 miles of scenic
twists.

4)
Tracy Road - (video).
Super fun road. Put on your riding shoes since this road will
immediately follow Ensign Pond Road.

5) Route 9 from Route 73 north to
Elizabethtown. This section of Route 9 has some great curves. This
road will follow almost immediately after Tracy Road. This will be
almost 35 miles of non-stop twisties. The ride has a break in
Elizabethtown and it will be well deserved.

6)
Lincoln Pond Road (Route 7)
- (video).
Right after the break comes this beauty along Lincoln Pond and then
south toward Lake Champlain. Try to keep your eyes on the road.

7)
Hoffman Road (Route 24) - (video
- begin at 2:20). I had never heard boo about this road until Phil, my
brother, and I stumbled upon it last year. The combination of curves
and elevation changes make this road a blast to ride.
