Here
are the three mountaintop rides for the Adirondacks Birthday Bash
weekend:
1) Prospect Mountain - Well
worth the $4 to get a bird's eye view of Lake George and the
surrounding area. The road is right near the Wingate Hotel that we are
staying at and it is an easy ride. A shuttle takes you from a lot near
the top to the summit. BONE view.

2) Mount Defiance - There
was no fee when we rode this little gem overlooking Fort Ticonderoga
and the scenic bend in Lake Champlain. The British hauled cannon up
here causing the Americans to abandon Fort Ticonderoga without firing
a shot. The road up here is right in the town of Ticonderoga and the
lunch stop for the Eastern Lakes Ride. The road up is not in great
shape and the lot at the top is dirt, but it is well worth it for the
great views. BONE view.

3) Whiteface Mountain -
While pricey at $10 per bike, the views are amazing. The road is bumpy
in spots so you have to watch your line.
The views on the way up are pretty
terrific:

Once you get near the top you park
your bike and then make a choice. Either you walk into this tunnel to
the elevator:

Or you climb there
stairs.....yikes! I'll take the elevator. :)

Once you reach the summit you never
know who you might bump into:

Even on a cloudy day, the view of
Lake Placid, Mirror Lake, the Adirondacks, and the town of Lake Placid
are breathtaking.

Be sure to walk out back to the
rocks for amazing views of the high Peaks region of the Adirondacks.
Well worth the $10. BONE View.
