Lots to do!
MainFare Bed Breakfast is located right on Main Street in the north central Massachusetts town of Ashburnham, with a population of just under 6,000 residents.
In Ashburnham or within minutes you’ll find:
Hiking trails: the Mid-State Trail and Wapack Trail, both take you to Mt. Watatic, elev. 1832’ with views from Boston in the east, to Mt. Greylock in the west, to Mt. Manadnock and the White Mountains in the north and to Wachusett Mt. and beyond facing south.
Bike trails: Close by you can ride the Gardner and Winchendon rail trails and Ashburnham and the surrounding area offer miles and miles of beautiful New England back country roads.
Restaurants: In town, you’ll find the Cafe 57 serving a pub style menu with many locally brewed beers on tap. Pizza parlors, two delis, and a diner.
Nearby you’ll find The Old Mill, McNally’s Pub, Gardner Ale House, Little Anthony’s Seafood, Sonoma, Il Italiano, and many more eating establishments offering something for every taste.
Winter Sports: Wachusett Mountain ski area is just 20 minutes away as is Windblown Cross Country Ski Center. Nearby the Ashburnham State Forest and other local hiking trails offer great snow shoeing and cross country skiing. And if conditions are right, ice skating on any of Ashburnhams lakes is great fun.
Golf: Local public courses include Gardner Municipal Golf Course, Woods of Westminster, Westminster Country Club, Winchendon School Golf Club, and The Shattuck Golf Club just to name a few. Many offer beautiful views of Mt. Monadnock, Wachusett Mt. and the wonderful New England country side.
